Re: Blowing oil.

I had a similar problem with my P3 and found it was blowing between No. 1 piston and an oil way but you could also see a slight bubbling of oil from the join between the block and head. A new head gasket seems to have sorted it. Other than the obvious like worn valve guides or a broken ring I don't ...

Re: P3 tales

Well the head gasket went back on fine and the car runs a treat with only a slight tweak to the timing needed to set everything up. Its now running with a good steady oil pressure of 20lbs on tick over rising to about 35lb on mid revs and the water peaks at 90 then settles to a steady 85 so all look...

Re: Petrol drain pipe (130)

That's the set up on my one too and as far as I can tell from the work shop manual that's the way it supposed to be. There's no mention of a tap of any sort and as you say it must effect the vacuum in the manifold. I've just had the head off on mine and there was a kink in the pipe and I managed to ...

Re: head bolts

finish putting mine together this last weekend and after filling with coolant and a few other checks started her for the first time in two years today and she's purring like a kitten. I've been preparing for this for weeks including a detail brake check for any leaks of seized parts all seemed OK th...

Re: Gearbox mounting

Its a long time since I had my gearbox out for a new clutch but any work on the back end of the gear box will need the big rubber transmission tunnel taking out (comes out easy from inside) then you should be able to have a good look at the rear end of the box and might be able to tell if the gearbo...

Re: head bolts

I've just pulled the head off mine this very week end so I can fit a new head gasket and none of mine have washers so the chances of being missing completely from both mine and yours is to high to be a coincidence. Steve

Re: Suffolk/Norfolk Events

Gosh Mark don't be fooled by the photos just don't look too close mines a driver not a show car if you have to look at it stand back about 20ft. Not to sure about Earsham as I had promised the granddaughter I'd take her to the Thomas the tank engine weekend (and she's holding me to my promise) at th...

Re: Suffolk/Norfolk Events

I'll be at both, I didn't do Bressinham last year due to health issues but Earsham hall was good so I'll most likely see you there just look out for a maroon and black P3 4 light. Its a bit further into Norfolk but the Skeyton Goat rally is a good one too
