Bent Pushrod

I have a bent pushrod on #3 cylinder. Is it wise to straighten it or should I replace it? It's not too badly bent - enough to prevent it rotating fully between top and bottom locations - and the engine runs fine. The rod was already bent when I purchased the car so I have no idea what caused it. Tha...

Re: New hub caps & headlight rims for 1935, 14?

I've had the hub caps back from Freddy Boulton and he has done a really nice job on them with a quick turn around. You do get sets of hub caps come up on ebay occasionally as well.

Re: Powder Coated Wheels

On balance, it seems like good practice so I have cleared the paint from the wheels where the nuts make contact. I did it using an old wheel nut locked onto a spare piece of studding. Put the stud into the drill and with a bit of grinding paste on the nut contact face ground away the paint. Very nea...

Powder Coated Wheels

I've had my wheels powder coated. Is it necessary to remove the new paint where the wheel nuts tighten up on the wheel? I remember my Dad doing this on his Armstrong Siddeley Atalanta a while back. If it needs doing, what is the cone angle of the nut/wheel contact area? (1939 14 SS with steel wheels...

Rubber Grommit on Bumper Brackets

Can anybody tell me the orientation of the rubber grommits on my rear bumper brackets (1939 14 SS)? The old ones were too far gone to see which way they went and it's difficult to see which way round the new ones go! Thanks for any help. Colin.

Re: Chroming

Thanks Chris but my hub caps are push fit ones - no screws. There are 5 metal spring clips riveted to the steel wheels which hold the caps on.

Chroming

I have had a great summer driving the 1939 Rover 14 SS and now it's time to park up and get some jobs done. One thing is re-chroming of bumpers front and rear, headlights and headlight rims, horn and hubcaps. Are any of these parts available to buy already chromed? I know chroming is expensive. My h...
