Re: P3 Engine Replacement

I am sorry you are swapping out the original motor for a P4 90 motor. The originals must be getting pretty rare indeed, although they are quite rebuildable as many spares are common to the Series 1 Land Rover engine. Yes, my P4 90 is much smoother and more powerful than my P3 75, so when I want to g...

Re: Solex 30 PAAI 2 Parts

As others have said, the drain is there to prevent a flooded carb from flooding the engine too. Mine was blocked off. Being a perfectionist, I bought a length of copper capillary tube and soldered it in place, routing the 600mm of pipe through the supporting bracket attached to the oil pan.

Re: Speed 14 engine reconditioning

I am not advocating this, but just aware of it as a possibility. You need a cast iron crock pot and some pure-ish zinc. Heat the zinc in the crockpot to molten. Then dip each bearing shell in the molten zinc.

Blowing oil.

Are these symptoms related? 1) on 30 C days, after about a minute of heavy throttle the engine suddenly starts blowing a huge smoke screen. It goes away instantly on easing off the throttle, and the engine continues running as normal. The temperature gauge remains on 80 C. On cooler days, nothing un...

Re: wiring loom on a P3 75

Hi Luli,
Thanks for your reply.
I could not see any pictures of the main battery cable routing on the link you gave me. I could also not see how to view different chapters. Do you have an English language version of your website?

PS, beautiful job of the dashboard and instrument panel.

wiring loom on a P3 75

I inherited quite a lot of restoration work on this P3, including a new wiring loom. I am guessing that it was put in by a competent electrician, but without the benefit of knowing where things came from. So does anyone have pictures of the correct routing of the section of wiring loom from the fire...

Re: Rover 10 Special

Tyre pressure will be very different depending on exactly what tyres you are using. If there is play (clearance?) in your steering then the track rod ends (TREs) and / or link rod ends are likely worn and need replacing. Or the steering box may be worn. It is unlikely to be an adjustment problem. Mo...

Re: On the hunt

I used my P4 daily for years. Now the 3 litre is on the road I use that more, better stereo and power steering.

Re: engine knoch

Knocking has to be coming from one end of the conrod or the other, ie big end or pinking. It would be very disappointing if it was a big end knock, but check the oil pressure anyway. Pinking under load would be either timing OR compression / octane mismatch. I had a 95 that was similar. I am guessin...
