Window Regulators

The 1948 P3 window regulators on the two front doors are not the same. Right drivers side is a lever. Left Passengers side is wind-up. The channel for the Right has a ‘curtain rail design so that the two rollers (doughnut shaped) slide in at the ends of the channel. My problem is the Left Passenger ...

Re: Solex 30 PAAI 2 Parts

Dave I am so very sorry that I did not reply sooner. No excuses, I simply did not see that I had a private message. In the end I did get it sorted and here is how. First I purchased a replacement second hand Solex ( now spare as I found that I did not actually need it ). So how did It get fixed. Fir...

Re: Solex 30 PAAI 2 Parts

Check the gasket between the body and the top of the carburetor. Hello Luli thanks for your support. Is that the top section that you remove the four bolts to gain access to the petrol float chamber? If so I removed and re fitted that when I gave the whole carb a clean in my newly acquired sonic ba...

Re: Solex 30 PAAI 2 Parts

Fascinating discovery!! I have (or had) a problem with idle speed hunting. The starting is good, the running is good and acceleration is good but she would not run with a smooth tick-over? I replaced renewable parts in the distributor. I purchased a strobe and set the timing. I purchased another Sol...

Re: Solex 30 PAAI 2 Parts

Thanks you guys. I have now carefully removed the white metal emulsion tube 'posts' which are push fit not screwed. I found that the actual emulsion tubes which are brass simply slide inside the deteriorated 'post'. The correction jets thus screw into the top of the push fit 'posts' keeping the loos...

Solex 30 PAAI 2 Parts

I have received a reclaimed Solex 30 PAAI 2 carb but, does the emulsion tube simply 'push / pull' fit or do they screw in ? Also are the emulsion tubes universal as one of them was found to be broken where the correction jet screws in and needs to be replaced. Does any member know of a reliable supp...

Re: Distributor Frozen on P3

Thank you for your valued help. (I have a place in the Lakes but never seen a P3 on the road. I Managed to get it to move, I used a retired coal miner! He went through a few colour changes in the process and it's still a bit stiff, but it moved enough to set the timing to 7* past TDC as in the book....

Distributor Frozen on P3

Hello I have a 1948 P3 75 and the Distributor appears frozen and will not move despite the pinch-bolt being loosened. Can anybody please reassure me that exerting more force to turn the body of the distributor will not cause something to break? The car is new to me and was not running when purchased...
