It is just a continuous thin string (I used grey nylon Venetian blind cord) passed through 2 small screw in chrome curtain rings above each end of the roller on the rear window header and another in the rear corner top to allow the cord to pass through an oval ferruled hold on the rear quarter panel...

Anything is possible but it will cost. An Mk3 Rover 3 Litre auto with transmission and engine complete could be made to fit I suppose. These are not common and the units will likely need reconditioning. A modern power unit complete may be the answer but I am not familiar with such recent machinery

Judder is usually due to oil contamination of the pressure and driven plate. It can be cleared sometimes by slipping the clutch. It is well worth checking the rear engine mount under the gearbox as these go soggy, The clutch linkage can also have stiff or slack spots. A combination of all these can ...

I never crawl underneath - just undo the entire filter head from the block and change filter and seal in comfort and prime full of oil at the same time

The cable can be seen - they do sometimes seize from lack of use. It's easy to check if it works as on the overrun when FREE there will be no engine braking and you can change gear up or down without pressing the clutch. I use the B5ES in our 1939 16. BPR6ES is a colder plug
