Re: gearbox not selecting reverse

Hi Roy
It couldn't be the freewheel could it? It may be worth checking it's locked - if you haven't already.

Re: 1935 Rover 12

Funny you should mention bronze nuts, Tony - as you say they're a bit scarce these days, but...I was having an idle browse on ebay earlier and came across a guy selling bronze nuts. He had various sizes but all RH thread so no good for RHD Rovers. Asking price was £100 each. Len, I had my post-war 1...

Len
Yes the large bolt secures the motor to the aluminium housing. I think you'll need to remove the motor and housing as one item by undoing the 3 nuts which attach to the flywheel housing, as the oil pressure relief gets in the way of removing just the motor.

Re: Rover 12 1934

PS - I think "Wilks Cars P1 and P2" is the more appropriate section.

Re: Rover 12 1934

Congratulations, Len - looks very tidy, do you have much to do? I noticed the website was having a funny turn recently - varoius devices I tried to log on with came up with different excuses. Just another of those gremlins I suppose. As to parts suppliers - Mike Couldry (Meteor Spares), Mike Evans (...

Re: New boy - if only!

Hello, Falkor I've been out in the P2 a couple of times since the restrictions were eased - traffic has certainly got a bit busier now, but yes the whole place has been spookily quiet lately. The clock is now spot on after 2 weeks a great improvement over gaining 1 minute per day. I'm sure this soun...

Re: Ignition Timing

Ray - I think the answer is in the camshaft timing. Making the bold assumption that P3 is the same as P2 and P4, the procedure is - set the crankshaft to EP, set the camshaft so that exhaust valve 1 is fully open and fit the timing chain. So it depends which cylinder you take as no. 1. Returning to ...

Re: P2 Headlamp flasher

Hi I fitted relays to my 12 a while ago to reduce the loading on the light and dip switches. I didn't think to include a flasher which would have the more useful mod as the car doesn't get a lot of use in the dark! Generally speaking relays aren't polarity sensitive but some do have an internal supr...

Re: WANTED 1937 Fourteen steering parts

Hi Eric Thanks for the extra pic. I've realised that I won't be able to get the arms off the stub-axles without a press so I've measured them as accurately as possible in situ. Both pairs exactly match your dimensions and the holes are tapered so that the ball joints fit on top. So the arms appear t...
