Re: 1947 P2 Floor and front seat mounts

What I might add is that the hatches are for access to the jacking points (and lubrication) - at least on my P2

Re: Rover service newsletters or bulletins

My motley little collection of P2 bulletins etc mostly from late 40's I think, includes an A465 dated 1946 and A466 also labelled as S-5661-64. A few other service bulletins similarly numbered ranging from S-4480 to S-9438. Also one numbered 4611 (dated 1946) but also B9763-66a. Or another numbered ...

Re: Rotary Retro Automobile Fellowship

Ah I did wonder whether anyone would notice the vented engine panels. You are correct that the 14 did not have them but I decided that because my DHC actually has a 16 engine in there I would find & refurbish some16 engine panels to get extra ventilation for the long hot journey to Normandy etc. It ...

Rotary Retro Automobile Fellowship

I am so pleased to report that we have just returned from our very first trip abroad in our 39 Rover 14 DHC and by far our longest trip - nigh on 1000 miles in a week of trouble free motoring apart from the throttle sticking open on the motorway early on (quick adaptation at the roadside) and a bit ...

Re: P2 Tickford door draught seal

Well the replacement draught strip arrived as the previously illustrated and there is no way that it can be fitted on the Tickford DHC as far as I can see. That strip is designed to fit over a raised metal seam and I have none on my car. The existing piece of draught strip is a plush covered roll (a...

P2 Tickford door draught seal

Like many P2's my doors have an excessive gap around the lower part of the doors. I have no draught seal on mine and am trying to source some and am wondering whether the Tickford model is different to the rest in this? I have found the attached profile at Vintage Spares https://www.vintagecarparts....

Re: Removing P2 sump

Thanks again Luli
Having cleaned up the excess gasket and got my new inspection lamp under the car I could see that I was not attacking the correct joint and following that the old chisel did a straighforward job of breaking the seal on the sump. Now the joy of cleaning it!

Re: Removing P2 sump

Thanks Luli
I will try again to cut the bond although the flange blocks direct access

Removing P2 sump

I am trying to remove the sump (engine in situ) to clean it out. So I drained it and removed the oil filter and all the nuts and bolts but it is solid. The sump flange sits in a lip of the block and so there is no place to get a purchase. Tried tapping with a soft mallet but no movement. Has anyone ...

Re: Tickford Hood Straps

Thanks for the information on the hood details. Luckily Bill Mccreath has already sent me a copy of the Directions for the Tickford Foursome Coupe but thanks anyway for taking the trouble to copy them. Maybe others would benefit from them? They did raise further questions. They mention covers which ...
