It has been done, I have seen twin D3s fitted to an adapted '47 14hp inlet manifold. The 2 cables were for independent choke and a hand throttle , 2 knobs on the right hand side of the dash board. Just a thought, the brake expanders are normally secured to the backplates by 2 studs. On other Rovers the backplate has slots rather than precise holes for the studs so the expander can move slightly. The 10 and 12 share the same block, so it is common to bore the block out to take 12 pistons. With a 10 Cylinder head there is a useful increase in compression ratio and better performance.
