Re: Seatbelts

It's certainly possible to fit seatbelts to P3 front seats. I saw them in Eric Irons' concours P3 more than 20 years ago. Eric was a skilled engineer and would never have installed any mod. in his superb car unless it was 100% safe.

Re: Rover P3 '48/49

At nearly £12K this Norfolk P3 doesn't sound like a good buy to me. For that kind of money, classic clara, I would expect to be presented with a car with which it was difficult to find fault. This one doesn't appear to fit that description.

Re: Rover upholstery materials

What you appear to be describing in your latest posting, SA103, is vinyl leathercloth used to cover door cards and miscellaneous trim panels. You will find a selection in green in the leathercloths section of Woolies' catalogue. They will willingly send samples on request. Known variously as Vynide ...

Re: Rover upholstery materials

Woolies stock light green Union headlining, but now have Bedford cord- the seating material you are looking for- in beige and grey only, This fabric is a heavy, moquette-like woolcloth with a distinct vertical rib, named after the 15th. century Duke of Bedford who clothed his troops in it.Googling "...

Re: P3 Tyres

Directional stability on sub-standard roads is less of a problem with the P3: IFS counters the tendency towards wandering and tramlining encountered when driving a crossply-shod P2 on the HGV-rutted inside lanes of some of Britain's poorly maintained roads. That said, my experience of radials on "ou...

Re: Rear parcel shelf

The rear shelf was covered with a thin, non-stretch Rexine type material properly called Vynide. You can get it from Woolies (item 242,p.6 of 21st edition catalogue) in a variety of colours.Today, of course, it's made from PVC. From memory, the side kick panels framing the vents are made of thin ply...

Re: P4 seats

No- the back of the P4 front bench seat is a large, slide-in, hardboard panel covered with vinyl. The fabric covering the small side trims right at the bottom of the seat is cut moquette which is sometimes confused with fine-pile carpet.

Re: Headlining

That's a good rule of thumb for union cloth headlining colours. Black and grey interiors are also matched with light grey cloth. In the case of green interiors, Rover used a light green headlining cloth which is still readily available today. The colour "beige" can also include "fawn", which in my e...

Re: Fuel union on P2

" Generic type cheapo", "an unbranded one which had been fitted by the previous owner"? Hmm.... The next thing you need to do, Rob, in order to give yourself a chance of getting to the bottom of this problem is to get yourself a decent quality electric fuel pump and give serious consideration to the...
