Re: Frustration! Overheating.
David I’ve been trying to upload a picture of the flywheel marks but have given up for the moment. The TDC, FA4 and FA6 marks are located close together. (FA6 applies to the old 14hp engine so ignore it). FA4 is 26 teeth anti-clockwise from EP (used for setting the camshaft relative to the crank). P...

Re: Frustration! Overheating.
Hello David A few more thoughts - helpful or otherwise! My previous 12 used to eject coolant in this fashion. It was 25 odd years ago so detailed memory is not available but the solution did involve a new core in the radiator. Also important to have the correct type of thermostat which shuts off the...

Should have said measurements are relative to the mounting flange!

Re: Fuel reserve unit for P2 12hp tourer
Hello David I've just measured my spare unit and the lengths are 9.9 and 10.9 inches approx. (15/16 in old units). My reading of the parts lists is that all models use the same reserve tap except 10 saloon and coupe. I did have a 6-cyl tank ages ago and from memory it was the same height and width a...

Handbook for 1951 Models
Someone has passed on a copy of the above to me. The front cover is very tatty, the rear cover is missing but the middle bit is not too bad with some dirty finger prints. It's no use to me so if anyone would like it I'd be happy to pop it in the post.

Re: Speed 14 steering, brakes & performance
Luli, thanks for that comparison - confirms my suspicions about harmonic bumpers. My old car is now with the friend I bought it from in the first place. So maybe I should ask him for a test-drive - it might prove that actually I'm the problem!

Re: Speed 14 steering, brakes & performance
Interesting observation from David2021 regarding harmonic bumpers. My 12hp six-light is fitted with the non-stabilising type of bumper specified as an alternative on 1947 models. I've never felt as "secure" driving it as I did with another P2 I had some years ago. That was a 1947 4-light - virtually...

Re: 1934 Rover 12 door handles
Hi Len & Rob The usual arrangement for locking on most makes up to around 1960, so including P4s, was to have the driver's door locked by a key from outside and the other doors locked from the inside by pushing the handle in the reverse direction to opening. As Rob says the key locks the handle to p...
