As I am restoring one of these at the moment I would appreciate anyone who has any detail about the design and colour of the interior trim.

Thought I would add a few more pictures,
this one shows the extent of the wood rot

It shows were the 'B' post should connect to the top rail but it was just flapping about.

This is the top rail as it goes across the windscreen, it was just like weetabix, this was because it had stood outside for a few years in the tropics.

This pic shows the engine compartment which was complete and very little modified including the autovac

This is it now completly stripped to a rolling shell so I can measure and replace the rotten timber

Eventually got to this, just a chassis!

Then all I had to do was remake the wooden parts and rebuild!

Great bit of work Paul, more than I would like to take on.
What type of timber will you use when doing the rebuild?

These pictures are a little out of date , the body has now been rebuilt and it has had it's first few coats of primer. The wood was seasoned ash (5 years) which is the preferred choice as it doen't shrink or warp.

I must admit I had the wooden parts made for me by a proffessional coachbuilder.
I will post some later pix when I find them.

In the meantime this is a picture of the car taken from the 1929 sales brochure.

Ignoring the wood for a moment the metalwork looks in remarkably good conditon, nothing a wire brush and some paint wouldn't sort. You have plenty to keep you occupied through the dark winter months there i think.

Did you ship the car back from Barbados yourself?

Yes, plenty to do,
the chassis was OK but a little twisted which is now sorted, the panels that nail on over the ash were mostly rescueable, I had to make a couple of replacements, because where the wood had soaked in the water they were rotted from the inside.

The Bonnet is aluminium and a little thin in places but will do.

The main problem was the front wings, thay had been well and truly basshed over the last 80 years and did not look at all good so I had to add the missing bracing around the edges and heat and cool and generally bash if back into place, repairing a few previous holes plus some lead loading, anyway it is all looking good at the moment, sitting in the garage with a few coats of etch primer on.

The engine however, ... well lets just say I am now onto the second engine block which in itself was hard to find, never mind repair as it had been used as a garden ornament for 30 years !!

At least it keeps me off the streets.

Sorry forgot to say, no I did n't ship it back myself that was done through an agent I found out there, I should add I hadn't seen it before it arrived at my house.
