I am now in a position to fully recondition all types of P2 Steering Boxes ( Marles Weller and Burman Douglas types ), I also recondition P3 and P4 Steering Boxes ( Burman recirculating ball type ) in RHD and LHD. Can any interested members please contact me on 07966 136 890 or email dave.dt@frankdudley.com

I also recondition P3 and P4 exhaust manifolds and I also make oil filter adaptor kits for P3 60/75/ Series 1 Land Rovers and P4 75 (Cyclops) cylinder head mounted type. These kits utilise a modern throw away spin on filter and are very, very easy to fit.

Trivia question. Are these the same steering boxes as used on the 1948-53 Land-Rovers? Or at least, are their interchangeable parts?

Yes they are the same type of the 4 cylinder cars but shorter. See here: https://lulis.org/2018/09/07/51-%D7%92% ... ering-box/

Hello Dixon,

The following comments are covered by the RSR's disclaimer, so if you act on the information (from the Land Rover and Rover parts manuals) you do so at your own risk.

First, Land Rovers' steering box is mounted differently and the vehicles have a steering relay, the cars do not. The only common part I can find is the steering nut for the Right hand drive Land Rover (48-51), part number 50682, that is used on Left Hand drive 10hp cars in the 1947 model year. A steering specialist may have more information.

Hope that this helps

Best regards and happy new year
Mike
