Thanks. Identified the problem now. Muck inthe fuel. Petrol was coming through with orange sludge in it. Time to flush the tank I think.

Hi , yep fit a disposable filter in the line too , the general opinion amongst many friends with old cars is to use super unleaded , they seem to idle better & give more power ,has anyone else found this ??

what do you mean by super unleaded fuel,is that like a 98 octane rating.regards Derrick.Smith.

Yes but the higher octane rating is just not needed - its probably the absence of enthanol that affects the running. Unleaded fuels do run hotter anyway
