Gearbox mounting

Post by edthecat » Wed Aug 23, 2017 9:39 pm

Is there anyone out there who can give me a clue on what is involved in changing the gearbox mount on my P3, the big half round one. Is there also a rubber pad on top, between it and the gearbox

Its a long time since I had my gearbox out for a new clutch but any work on the back end of the gear box will need the big rubber transmission tunnel taking out (comes out easy from inside) then you should be able to have a good look at the rear end of the box and might be able to tell if the gearbox can be raised enough to get the mounting out. Once the mounting bolts are removed a simple jack under the back of the gearbox should if you do it carefully raise it ok, keep an eye on the engine though if you get to carried away you might bend the throttle linkage of move the fan to near the radiator. As I said it should all look clearer when the tunnels out.
