P3 diff.

Post by moshe » Sat Aug 04, 2018 11:12 pm

Hello friends,I finally finished my 75 & its back on the road!
Now she's screaming for a faster diff.Mine is the original 4.70:1 ratio .should I use a 3.90:1 ratio or dare using a 3.54:1 ratio ?
Usually I drive through flat country .Where can I get one at a reasonable price? I'd love to learn from your experience guys .
Best regards ,
Moshe from Israel .

You would have to have a VERY good engine to pull much more than a P4 4.3 diff IMHO. My memory here is not too good, but the nose length may have changed between the 4.7 and 4.3 complete assemblies, so there might be a tailshaft issue, but it should not be a big issue. My preferred solution would be a Laycock overdrive, which will fit on the back of the P3 gearbox - last P4 I had ran a P3 box behind a 90 engine with a P4 overdrive - excellent combination!
