P3 75 Water Pump Mating Face at Block

Can anyone confirm that the Water Pump Mating Face at the block is not flat. Instead, it has a brass rectangular tube protruding about 0.5 mm on the right hand side when looking from the front. Is this normal ? I do not have a water pump gasket at the moment but from photos I've seen it does have a rectangular cut out which might completely surround the brass protrusion. If not, I doubt that the Water Pump will pull flat against the Block Mating Face. Any advice greatly appreciated. Regards, Ray
