Overdrive rear oil seal
Overdrive rear oil seal
Has anyone got any advise on renewing the oil seal at the rear of the overdrive unit. The official workshop manual rather skates over the subject. Are there likely to be any particular problems.
Re: Overdrive rear oil seal
Hello Adrian,
Having looked at the parts book, there don't appear to be any particular Issues - The Drive flange has to come off, it's splined onto the output shaft, secured with a castellated nut/washer and split pin. The oil seal sits behind it, so the trick will be to extract the seal. Other than the normal fun and games with oil seals, it looks straightforward. I should hasten to add that this is theorising on my part, I have never changed an overdrive oil seal.
Regards
Mike
