My wife has a 820Si 4 door registered on 23/4/2001. It's up for grabs if anyone wants it.
Built Feb 98, it was exported to Barbados, where the import duty is about 240% - yes, two hundred and forty. It sat in the showroom for 3 yrs until rendered obsolete by the 75. The dealer couldn't knock it out at a discount 'cos he owed the duty on the full retail price. He shipped it back to the UK where my friend Fred, classic car dealer and ex-Rover employee, used his contacts to get it accepted as a brand-new registration with full warranty. He put about 5000 miles on it then sold it to my wife, who has commuted in it ever since. Mileage is now about 105,000.
Linda is about to retire and doesn't need the car anymore. It's maroon with grey cloth trim, alloys, sunroof.
Bad news: the ABS light is on, the air-con failed (evaporator? we were quoted £800) and the power steering pump is now spraying fluid. All probably fixable - I found a NOS steering pump online for £110 - but I just don't have time to get involved and we have a veteran Ford, VW camper and daily driver Volvo as well, so it has to go.
It would be nice if it went to an enthusiast rather than the scrapman. Anyone want to give it some TLC? We're in Bracknell, Berks.
