Hi, sorry can’t help with your lost messages but I’m sure Mike Meher our Chairman will be on the case if you contact him directly. Did the lost posts have pictures attached? Could be that the data usage on the site was too high but I’m only guessing.

Tony.

this whole focus on data usage on the site , avatars/ images / files is pretty depressing, it is actually hindering people from posting / participating to the fullest extent :( pretty sad to see

I wasn’t aware of any great focus on data usage etc across the site but hosting and storage must cost and the club will, I assume, have to balance that expenditure against the value it brings the members. I guess it all depends what you are looking for from the club forum; since joining in 2015 I’ve obtained contacts, guidance and been welcomed into numerous events. This has helped me to restore, show and drive my vintage cars and I think that most existing members are looking for the same kind of support. That said, I think it would be nice if members shared their experiences more often as the social side of classic car ownership is just as interesting as the technical one.
Therefore, if you are more used to social media sites, I can understanding the frustration that some upload limitations might present. If this is the case you could join the RSR Facebook page or look into uploading pictures or files to a 3rd party site and simply popping the link into your forum text. I’ve never had the need, but lots of members do this.

I hope that helps you to participate more as you would like to? In the mean-time, it would be good to hear about your cars and the adventures you have had in them. 43 years of Rover ownership is impressive and I’m sure you have some reminisances worth sharing.

Tony.

Hi,

as an admin of this forum I can confirm that your posts are visible, please have a look at

http://www.rover-forum.thersr.co.uk/sea ... mit=Search

we dont put any limit on the number or size of images you can post, unlike Facebook however to post a picture you have to provide an external link as you have done when you shared your P6 picture from windsorsafaripark.org.uk. There are many free picture storage sites that can be used or you can use your own cloud storage.

The popularity of forums vs facebook changes over time, while facebook , and others, have been popular they suffer from difficulties in accessing historical information.

Thank you for your support of the RSR forum.

Looks great, back in the early 90's I restored a 1976 rover P6B auto then a couple of weeks later I took my 3 kids on holiday in Cornwall towing my dads touring caravan :D

what needed restoring on it Cornish? and how long did you keep it going? 1976 was almost the last year for P6s so it must have been pretty solid or am I thinking through rose tinted glasses? early 90s yeah, by then I had lost faith in the P6s and was driving an Austin Maestro
