Hello from Ireland

Hi all, I've just bought a 1948 P3 75 and looking forward to learning more about the car through this forum.

I'm based in Roscommon which is in the centre of Ireland and prior to this, the oldest car I have owned was a 1950 Triumph Renown.

ZV4206 was originally an English car registered KLE186 and was imported in 1993 by Eddie Frayne who bought it for his wedding car fleet. I knew Eddie many years ago but he died back in 2015 and as his family aren't car people, his two P3s have now been sold. My car would originally have been black and spent its early years around London. As KLE186, it was painted white at some point and when it came to Ireland, maroon sides were added.

The car, while driving, is in need of recommissioning and I'm busy scouring the internet for elusive parts. My intention is to return the car to black but I may retain the maroon side panels. More anon.

Welcome to the Forum Billy. If you haven't already, its well worth while buying the Rover Sports Register's P3 Workshop manual and parts list. What parts are you searching for?

Best regards

Thanks for the welcome, Mike. I received my copies of the RSR's workshop manual and parts list in the post yesterday. Great stuff.

Replacing a cracked foglight and headlamp lens is a challenge but I'll track them down. As someone who has travelled to Beaulieu many times, the lack of autojumbles in these Covid times is frustrating cos I enjoy a good haggle, something you can't really do online. The one-use oil filter canister is a new one on me but unless someone tells me otherwise, I'll probably invest in one of the re-designed ZS1 canisters with reusable cartridges.

Having a project during lockdown is therapeutic and I'm enjoying my Rover P3 so far.
