Refitting of Drivers Door Glass in Rover 1947 P2

Post by MichaelKeay » Sat Jan 27, 2018 4:24 am

The glass pane has come off its two sliders of the quick lifter. I have removed the glass and cleaned out the metal slider attached to the glass. I Also checked that the spring is A ok in the lifter mechanism. My problem, ( I’m still New at the restoration process fun it maybe) is getting the glass back onto the lifter mechanism. Can someone guide me as to how do I get the glass plane and slider onto the first of the lifter bearings that is hidden behind and closer to the actual lifter lever end and then onto the more visible bearing. I trust I’ve made some sense here terminology wise  The window was not fitting well when I first purchased the P 2 and completely came off and dropped into the door after hitting a bump in the road yesterday NZ time. Many thanks in anticipation.

Remove the four bolts holding the winder in place, then turn it until you are able yo put the first wheel into the rail. move it inside until you are able to push the second wheel inside. Then reconnect the winder. See also here https://wp.me/pXLKy-1lw
