I have just removed the old headlining from my 1939 - 14 saloon, the material is in one
piece, albeit has various holes in it. The headlining is supported on a wooden batten
framework within the roof and around the sunroof aperture. You are most welcome to
come and look at it. As it would be difficult to draw it out or to take photos. The reason
for the headlinings removal was that the water gutter in the sunroof needs repairing.
There is additional supplement going into the reprinted version of the P2 & P3 Workshop
Manuals. Send me an email, and I can send you a copy of the new supplement, my email

Hi,
There is a big difference between 1938 & 1939 SS headlining fitting in the back area,
and the saloon is different again !
Cheers Jeff

I have discovered that the roof lining set ups are different from 1934, 1935 , 1937 and 1938 on the 10hps. Our little group of ' tenners ' has been researching this subject recently as three members are contemplating ( including me ) this part of our respective restorations.

In 1934 there was a metal sheet above the wooden frame and below the sunroof, in 1935 there was no metal sheet fitted and was also not fitted in 1937, in 1938 the roof was different altogether.

Your pictures Luli continue to amaze me in their detail - wonderful source of reference.

Our 1939 16 Saloon is completely different around the rear window having what seem to be curved Mill-board with little holes in it. The same stuff was used in the filler panels over the rear wheel arches under the window presumably so it can be molded?

Firefox displays your pics OK on my laptop but it is now all in Hebrew too!
