DUMB IRON COVERS

Post by Colin » Sat Feb 28, 2015 5:12 pm

Can someone tell me how the front dumb iron covers on my 1939 14 Sports Saloon are secured? I can see that the front bumper assembly holds them at the front, I have removed this but they still seem to be held by something at the back that I can't see or reach...
Thanks in advance for any pointers.

The dumb iron is secured by a 1/4 bsf bolt at the back to the chassis. See pictures here: http://wp.me/pXLKy-1iO

Where would we be on this forum without Luli's apparently inexhaustible library of photos and procedures to illustrate points under discussion as they arise? This resource has transformed my understanding of how our cars are put together.

Now, suddenly, and for no reason this technophobe can fathom, all I'm getting when I click on one of Luli's links is a title tab in Hebrew at the top, and a completely blank, light olive-green-coloured screen which I can scroll down for ages and on which I can see see precisely nothing except the aforementioned colour. Help! What's going on?

Luli's links still work for me Howard, though I have to ask Google to translate them every time. I am using Google Chrome as my browser.

Sorry to hear that. Have you tried Firefox or Chrome? I am testing my posts on them. Both are free and easy to install.

Thanks for that tip about changing browser, Luli. My default browser for years now has been Mozilla, which for some unknown reason suddenly will no longer display the content of your postings. On Explorer and Chrome-which I have never tried before- there is no problem at all. Hurrah! I wish I knew why this is the case: like so many things on the net, it's a mystery wrapped in an enigma to many of us who were brought up on pen and ink, blotting paper and John Bull printing outfits. What I find particularly baffling is that Mozilla has been working perfectly for me for years on end, and then, one fine day, it doesn't.
I tried the translation (from Hebrew) facility on Chrome. The results were absolutely hilarious- a surrealist's dream.

The website technology is rapidaly changing - therefore the internet browsers need also frequent updates. My current version of Firefox Mozilla is 36. You can verify your version by clicking on help - about. Try also "help - restart without add-ons" to see if there is an add-on that blocks my site. I am trying to add English captions to the pictures to overcome the translation issue...
