How do I remove the horn push?

Post by wooster » Tue May 26, 2015 8:11 pm

I want to straighten the steering wheel on my 39 14 but I'm struggling to see how the steering wheel comes off. I guess I need to remove the horn push but don't want to lever it off in case I break it. Any tips please? Also my dip switch is at about the 3 o'clock position. It should be at 6 o'clock shouldn't it? Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Thanks luli.
Crikey so I have to remove the whole steering column just to straighten the wheel :o I think I'll live with a crooked wheel :?

To just turn the dip switch all you need to do is release the clamp of the control tube at the bottom of the steering box. To replace the steering wheel itself you first need to remove that column altogether.

No need to remove the steering column.

Also you don't need to remove the steerer tube to reposition the steering wheel, you will need to loosen the steerer tube at the clamp on the steering box and pull the tube out enough to allow you to remove the steering wheel from the steering column, reposition the wheel, tighten it up then push the steerer tube back in making sure you position the horn push/dip switch in the correct orientation and retighten the clamp on the steering box.

Make sure you tighten the steering wheel bolt correctly being careful not to strip the threads
