Hi Chris,
I have been using long reach plugs in our 14HP since the 1960's with only improved performance results, so go ahead & use long reach ones.

Hi, I have used gear oil 80/90 for over 50 yrs in my car & it seems ok. If you disassemble any component fed by the system, it is advisable to flush through from the priming point under the bonnet with new oil.( it goes gloopy in the small bore tube).
