Re: Lucas distributor type for model 100 - 1960
Dear Thomas, Regarding 123 distributors. This is just a suggestion. I have only had one 123 distributor and strangely enough, I bought it for a Volvo 123GT. The car seemed a bit lethargic to me coming from Triumphs and Rovers and I suspected an ignition fault that was eluding me. However, I can trut...

Re: Choke control light
Well done with the photos ! Screenshot_20260307-101615.png Right this minute, this may not be the greatest help to you but the picture above shows the new switch I bought and fitted. However, after about three years but 100 miles, it has stopped working again and as the car in question is one that h...

Re: Choke control light
The choke switch on my 47 12 is a small rectangular device which sits in the aluminum rear of head casting. Is that what one of yours is ? There are triangularish switches (Otter?) that do a similar job but so far I haven't seen one on a P2. Unfortunately, your photo(s) haven't turned up, it may hav...

Re: 12 h.p. tourer supplement
Dear Helmuth,
The Club's 1939-47 Master Parts List reprint contains the 1947 Tourer supplement. This consists of lists by section of the different parts used in the Tourer. Maybe you are looking for an original but ,if not, the reprint would seem to be a good buy and comes as a nice new clean book !

Re: Waymaster 30 tyres on 1947 Rover P2
Hello, your message reminded me of measuring tyres about 20+ years ago and it ran in my mind that reality and printed data were not necessarily the same.Today has been the first day for a while I have chosen to be outside so as well as battery charging, I had a look at a couple of tyres. Both on P2s...

Re: Rewinding a fuel reserve solenoid
I know this is rather late to the party but I did want to thank astonchap for his reply and pointing me to a replacement solenoid. I bought one and it does indeed work so I am very pleased with that indeed. Unfortunately, the precise model had gone off eBay by the time I looked and now, so has the o...

Re: Waymaster 30 tyres on 1947 Rover P2
It's a shame the Avons are unavailable and another example of the shambles of buying British at present. However, here goes. Over the years I have bought and used 'them all' with varying results. There are original photos from the 30s rather than maybe the 40s which show new tyres which are literall...

Re: 12hp Tourer #110 (the blue one)
Dear David, I have been thinking on and off about your ignition related queries. The question I ask myself a lot about the older car and newer technology is : Why did the old technology work for so many miles in the past yet fails today? Reading through old Freewheels there were stories of people wi...

Re: Jaeger Clock adjustment
It's hard to be precise without seeing but the two things to reconcile with quartz movements are :1) fitting the movement to make the battery and adjuster accessible and 2) retaining the original clock case to maintain the fixings points for the original clamp. 2) seems to usually win out over 1) so...

Re: Jaeger Clock adjustment
All will be revealed once you get into it! (Personal biased views following !!) Quartz movements are a quick fix for a non working clock but the standard quartz movement has a sort of nasty 'crunch-crunch' sound compared with the nice 'click click - click click' of the original. There are quieter ne...
