1938 Rover 12 SS on ebay ETV99
This may be a bit late, but there's a 38 12SS on ebay for £3000 in Bolton, reg ETV99, It seems to have been the car of a Mr. Walsh at one time but the previous owner is now deceased. I have no connection with this car but I have been offered cars in similar condition for twice or three times this pr...

Re: P2 tourer at Brightwells
Well, that's all good news! A rexine replacement is particularly interesting. I had occasion to correspond with the owner of a 30s car a couple of months ago and he was asking for thoughts on his door restoration work. The thing that jumped out of the photos was firstly the thickness of the ply he w...

Re: A day of escape from the garage
Dear Rob, Thanks for asking and your comments are much appreciated. The missing link is a 16, either a saloon or sports saloon, which is somewhat strange as my first "in the metal" experience with 30s Rovers was a post war 16 in 1981. I suppose I've just not been looking at the right time for one. T...

A day of escape from the garage
I needed to have all the cars in a garage out to work on the floor and as yesterday was the best day so far, it seemed a good opportunity to take some pictures. Over the past few years, thanks to RSR members Alan, Ian, Iain,Keith,Rob and Steve for selling me their cars which I hope are all enjoying ...

Re: Fuel Starvation?
I thought it was maybe worth adding a recent experience to this topic. A newish addition to the fleet, a 1934 car, was starting and running ok in the garage but when going uphill (and not a biggish hill) the carburettor emptied of petrol and it came to a stop. Examination and replacement of all the ...

Re: P2 tourer at Brightwells
Dear David, That's super that it has gone your way, it looks like a very do-able proposition. If you should want a recommendation for someone who has done two Rover interiors for me "as new", send me a message and I'll pass on his details, although it looks as if yours will sort up quite nicely. It'...

Re: P2 tourer at Brightwells
An interesting project, so that makes at least 6 of these post war tourers for sale at present? Almost one for each day of the week. The estimate is probably a good reflection of the dismally depressed state of the market at present, recent auction sales of most pre war or pre war looking cars avera...

Re: Timing, points gap etc.
Something I have encountered from time to time is that if the contact set is of recent manufacture, it can be that the fibre heel that is moved by the distributor cam can be fractionally too long. This prevents the points from shutting completely yet they can be set with the correct open gap, but no...

Re: Rover 14 - 1935 - spark plugs - standard or extended reach?
Dear Chris, One of the supposed advantages of forums and websites is that you can find out things quickly. On that basis, I'm writing this and hope that others who know more than me can tell you more in detail but this is what I think I know. The plugs in your 14 would originally be 1/2" reach plugs...

Re: Rewinding a fuel reserve solenoid
I've been hoping there would be a reply to this as I too could have done with one being repaired. Having failed to find a repairer, I did find a new old stock P5 unit which uses the same general arrangement but has a bend in the pipes but it should be possible to remodel it into the same configurati...
