Rover 14 - 1935 - spark plugs - standard or extended reach?
I’m reworking the head on my 1935 Rover 14. It has been fitted with the recommended plugs (standard reach). These present the electrodes well short of the combustion chamber. I’ve tried an extended reach plug and - to my mind these present the electrodes in a much more sensible position. Please see ...

Re: Valve stem seals - a good thing or not
Good evening Richard - thank you for your thoughtful, and thought provoking reply. I’ll try to respond to the points you make in turn. The engine was running, and had been “sewing machine” quiet. It then developed a worrying knock. I investigated with my stethoscope and could hear/feel the knock fro...

Valve stem seals - a good thing or not
Good evening - I’ve stripped the head of my 1935 14hp and spotted something I didn’t expect - valve stem seals. I’ve had mixed opinions when discussing this with my colleagues. Some say they deprive the valve stem of lubrication. This argument might be worthy of note. One of my exhaust valves is ver...

Thank you Tony - it sounds like your article will help - unfortunately I cannot get the RSR website to display it.
I’ll keep trying.

Dodgy cam followers/tappets
Good evening I’ve been investigating a worrying engine knock While preparing to remove the cylinder head on my 1935 14hp (6 cylinder) I removed the tappet cover and luckily (very luckily!) spotted a cam follower socket at a “jaunty” angle. The top was loose. (See photos). Has anyone had a similar ex...

Engine Stand
Good evening - I’m about to remove the engine (for a rebuild) from my 1935 14hp (6 cylinder). I have limited space in my garage and am thinking of investing in an engine stand. Does anyone have a recommendation? I’m in the UK

Worrying engine knock
Good evening - I’m looking for advice. I have a 1935 6 cylinder 14hp. Up until recently the engine sounded like “a sewing machine”. Recently it has developed a noticeable knock. It would lessen as the engine warmed up but now doesn’t. Oil pressure 20psi at tick over when warm. I have a homemade “ste...

P2 14 Sports - Bumpers
Good evening - please forgive me if my question is naive. I’m considering the purchase of a P2 14 and I’m a little confused about bumpers. I’ve seen images of vehicles with no rear bumper and others with them. Can anyone help me understand? Or point me towards a document that might help? Secondly. A...
