Re: No power from ignition switch to coil (sometimes)
Some more help needed, as I’m not at the car. 1) SHyslop: you say you took a feed from the solenoid. Where is the solenoid located on a 1937 p2 hp12? (I’m especially confused as some answers from google (ai) tell me they didn’t have solenoids). 2) have a copy of the wiring diagram, but I only have a...

Re: No power from ignition switch to coil (sometimes)
Thanks for your very informative and useful reply. Yes - the lights turn on. But the wd40 sprayed into the ignition lock, did not solve the problem ;( So we will use your suggested temp fix of taking power from the voltage regulator (or somewhere) and wiring it to the coil via a temp switch fitted o...

No power from ignition switch to coil (sometimes)
The engine runs, but sometimes stops. Or sometimes doesn’t start; We have traced the problem to power (ie electricity) not getting to the coil. As a temporary test, we ran a cable direct from battery to the coil - and then engine runs fine. We read that the Lucas ignition switch is ‘temperamental’ a...

Re: Electrics leakage/drain - 1937 TEN P2 Can anyone help?
Re: negative or positive earth. I've looked in more detail at my copy of : Rover 1934-47 P2 Models WORKSHOP MANUAL And on page T22 -1934 10 & 12 HP It shows it as Negative earth Then on T26 -1936 10HP It stipulates Positive earth and says at the foot " chassis No 602,123 onwards . So it seems my 193...

The persistant drain on the battery has been found *- it's the wiper motor - see my subsequent new post.
* well here's hoping it's the only one

Re: How remove windscreen motor p2 h10 1937
And should it have power going to it even with ignition off?
Could it be the gearbox/parking mechanism that's stuck!

How remove windscreen motor p2 h10 1937
We have found the battery leakage !! It's the windscreen motor which has power going to it even when ignition is off! It doesn't work/operate, but it warm to the touch. Disconnecting the wires solves the battery leakage. But how to remove it for inspection/repair. There doesn't seem to be much info....

Re: How remove fuel sender - bolts are stuck
Thanks, I'm at the car next week and will try again. re your: " can be drilled with a tapping drill for 5/32" Whitworth, the same as original Meccano. Long screws in the part no 111 range (there are a few different lengths) can make a substitute for the originals. " Now that's real info that can't b...

The car is NEGATIVE earth. And the workshop manual seems to say it was built like that in 1937.
Is that right? (just checking)
