Re: Temporary engine swap?
I did this conversion almost 30years ago, it wasn't very difficult although I had a well equipped workshop,
I also fitted a 1947 10hp rear axle (narrow track) then 4.3 P4 diff. yes I had the prop shaft made to fit,
this was a very useable daily transport and the 35 14 hydraulic brakes were fine.

Re: Fuel problems
Take the reserve unit out complete, fit a piece of rubber hose from pipe down into bottom of tank,
my car then ran perfect for more than a week like this and proved I needed to sort the reserve leak out as luli says.

Re: By-pass oil filter
I fitted the Mocal filter adapter (eBay no. 121831988033) and ¼" gate valve as restrictor, most screw on filters will fit, I sourced pipe work and reducers locally. Re: By-pass oil filter
I bought a new remote filter off eBay at a reasonable price and fitted this, there are several types,
they have the modem screw on fitting and most modern cheap filters can be used.
This was a MOCAL unit with 3/4 UNF screw on for £40.
cheers Jeff Lee.
