Ash frame - advice, good reference sources, suppliers?
Have stripped out some of the rotten interior trim on my 12 and its hitting home just how much of the wood is completely shot or even missing - i think we could be looking at 60 - 80%. In the old parts catalogues that i acquired with my car i can't see anything on the timber frame - pictures, dimens...

p2 panels - commonality between models
Hi all, i'm right in thinking that the 10 had very different panels to the 12 - 16 models aren't I? Just looking at the 10 panels breaking on ebay at the moment - no use for my 1937/8 12 ss. Even i had to cut and shut it doesn't look like they really shared the same lines. I assume that for early P2...

Re: sill replacement photos
Hi Phil, any good pictures of the work - especially the D post and arch repairs?

Re: sill replacement photos
Well, no contest so far as you are already streets ahead - i'm still working outside as having widened the garage in the last 2 years i then managed to fill it with junk again! Weather this week has meant i didn't get half what i wanted done. But I've started stripping off one side to get to the sil...

Re: sill replacement photos
Really good work Wouldhee - i see this post started in 2009 and i was just thinking of getting ready to start on mine back then (ah, the optimism of youth!) Well i've taken the week off this week and (weather permitting) aim to start the initial strip down on my 12ss prior to the sill work. So an am...

Re: New restoration project - what not to do?
Thanks guys, the technical information and the project guidance is so useful - feeling more confident now. I'm amazed by the low volume of posts on this forum - hope that i don't get a bad rep for posting too often! I've acquired a few back copies of Freewheel, which does seem to have useful article...

Re: New restoration project - what not to do?
Thanks Phil for your useful feedback, i feel i'm monopolising your time at the moment! I'll definitely take your advice and won't take the body off the chassis until i've sorted the sills and backend, and i'll just tackle one side at a time. Bracing the doors - i assume that means just tacking a str...

Re: sill replacement photos
Paul, sorry that i cannot offer you any help (yet) but i too have this job to do on my 1938 12ss this summer, so i'm keenly watching to see what response you get. I hope someone can provide some photos, but if you decide to press on anyway do take some yourself! I'd imagine i'm looking at a need for...

Re: New member - 1938 12 Sports Saloon
Thanks to both of you. I've started the ball rolling with the DVLA, they've sent me the forms. The previous owners was an RSR member in the mid 90's i believe, if he wasn't previously since his ownership in the late 50's. I have the green log book and lots of correspondence/evidence going back to th...

New restoration project - what not to do?
Hi, well i've got the car home now (1938 12 sports saloon) and i've had a reasonably good poke around and it's pretty obvious this is going to be a ground up rebuild project over 3 years +. I've not heard the car running as it has a fuel delivery issue. I understand it had a some partial top end ove...
