From my own experience many years ago I would check compressions on cylinders first as worn bores ,worn or broken piston rings would add up to the symptoms you are suffering. Exessive oil consumption would also be evident.

I have driven P4's for a number of years and it has been a rewarding experience , a P4 100 for ten years in the 70's and another P4 100 from 2003 t0 2012 ,it is now time to change to something a little older so I will be looking at P2's and P3's over the coming months .I shall follow the forum with ...
