Re: 75 engine oil pump
Hi I wrote an article on the P3 lube system for Freewheel some time ago . It's a good idea to pack the oil pmp with vaseline . Gear pumps have a nasty habit of not priming , which can lead to a nasty event when you try to start the engine . Don't forget to replace the ball bearing in the pressure co...

Logic behind Increased RSR subscription ??
Hi I received the December issue of Freewheel today , shipped by snail mail , delivered by motor packet boat [ Viking longship??]to the new world port of Montreal . I was intrigued to find that the RSR subscrition has increased , in order to defray mailing costs . I have written to the Editor to poi...

Re: Engine Colour
One of my P3 blocks was not painted . The other was originallly " Battleship grey " . I suspect the actual colour depended on what ex Admiralty paint was available on any particular day !!Chasing "originality " for 60 year old P3s is a futile exercise .Remember P3s were built in a period of shortage...

Hi Tim
If the RSR has finally run out of the P3 anthology , try the old book website www :abe.com . I have bought books on Rovers and many other topics from booksellers all over the world using this site
Cheers
Patrick

Re: Big hello from the new kid in Rover town 1948 p3
Hi Moshe I rebuilt a derilict P3 and chronicled my adventures in the RSR magazine " Freewheel " Ask the RSR librarian to print out a list of articles under the heading of "Isambard Kingdom Brunel " or "Patrick Hiron" , this will give you a list of how not to do it and how to get it right afterwards ...

Re: P3 carb question
Hi Steve Don't give up on the Solex , its really a Weber's grandad .! Chas Vyse wrote the definitive article on Solex carbs in Freewheel 307 October 2004 , I added some comments on the elusive glass ball valves in the accelerator pump , in Freewheel 314 December 2005 . DEspite the Rover manual's dir...

Re: Canadian assembled car??
Hi I have not heard of a Rover assembly operation in Canada . I doubt that Rover could have obtained dollars from the UK govt to set up a plant just after WW2. No Canadian company would have invested in such an operation , there were much easier ways of making profits from North American cars at his...

P4 and LandRover manuals for sale
I have been clearing out the IKB archives and have a collection of original Rover documentation which is no longer needed .I'm offering this on the RSR net , before sending it to E Bay ,the great garage sale in the sky. I would prefer this data to be used by Rover owners rather than being dismembere...

The seats are tan coloured and are finished in a ridge and valley design with perforation in th...

Re: P2 query 2
What is " drab " gear oil ?? If it looks like aluminium paint you have the classic P2 P3 gearbox problem , a collapsing lay shaft bearing . Don't wait ., fix it NOW. The P series gear box and back axles use engine oil . Don't use sexy gear oils which contain sulphur based EP additives which chew up ...
