Re: 1934 Rover 12 sadly selling

Dear digcot65 I have followed with great interest the details of your restoration on this forum and I am sad to see you having to sell it before you have had much time to enjoy it. The car looks excellent and you should be able to ask a premium price I would say, although I have no idea what that wo...

Re: Gearbox and rear axle oil

David like you I tried to avoid a rewire for some years and as the 80 year old wiring and the bullet connectors etc broke down I replaced individual connections with new wiring which allowed me to keep going. But eventually I found it looked so messy especially under the bonnet that I decided to rew...

Re: P2 Rover 14 Mounting footprint

Thanks Luli Yes I had sussed out that the mounts are not the same distance from the engine block but are I believe symmetrical about the crankshaft (and the same height from datum). Which all led me to daydream about someone (with more patience than me) to make a detailed 3D computer model of the en...

Re: P2 Rover 14 Mounting footprint

Having taken a different base line to measure from and removing a pipe or two from in the way I am now pretty convinced that the mounting points are the same distance back from the front of the engine so I shall stick with that. Unless anyone knows better of course.............

P2 Rover 14 Mounting footprint

I am trying to draw up a footprint for the supports on a 39 Rover 14 engine (to have an engine test mount made) and having some difficulty in measuring the dimensions accurately. The engine I am measuring from is a spare one with another one in the car otherwise I would just measure the mounting poi...

Re: P2 Seats

Hi Tony Mine is a 39 DHC 14 so definitely different form the tourers. Picture of the footwell trays in my spares attached - a bit lacy but mostly sound. My hesitation is just that after repairing them and fitting them the carpet wont fit any more and I am not quite ready to replace all the floor car...

Re: P2 Seats

Thank you all for your generous advice. It sounds as though I am going to be forced into a DIY solution although I will try the Mikes just in case they are into miracles. Another steep learning curve - a choice between bending ply or bending sheet metal! By the way anyone any idea why that bottom sl...

P2 Seats

I finally bought a hide (yes a whole hide- no choice about that) and the leather worker started on reupholstering the front seats. The first was fine when opened up but the second has exposed some serious woodworm damage. Fortunately it seems to be almost confined to the very bottom of the back wher...

Re: Drive It Day 2021

Well I went on my own. Did a tour around West Cornwall on a beautiful day. But I saw precious few other classics - 1 TR, Lotus Elan and an Austin 7 I think - but not together. I did hear the night before that the local Alvis Club had organised a run for all comers but it started in Newquay and given...

Drive It Day 2021

I have just been reminded that tomorrow 25th April is Drive It Day. I have not seen any mention on the RSR website or in the latest magazine for some reason so please spread the word and remind everyone to get out there tomorrow!
