Re: P2 1947 16. Speedometer

Thank you Tony. I’m tending to go the way of Speedo fault but as I’m about to lift the carpets to check the gearbox oil level I’ll check cable as well.

P2 1947 16. Speedometer

Just back from an afternoon jaunt in my P2. Of circa 80 km. say 50 miles. Obviously my speedometer is in mph (we use kph or kms) Shortly before reaching outskirts of my town my speedometer started to read erroneously with wild swings from nil to 60mph. It sat for awhile at 30mph when I assessed my a...

Re: Radiator water overflow

Thank you Tony. I’m now firmly of the opinion that I was being over cautious in topping up the radiator when it was not necessary to do so. Hopefully now found right level for expansion.. I gave my P2 a 50km run early April, no problem and of course no boiling as one would expect if thermostat was j...

Radiator water overflow

My initial reaction was that this is due to water expansion from a hot radiator but with engine still running the radiator top is not too hot to touch it really gets hot ...

Refitting of Drivers Door Glass in Rover 1947 P2

The glass pane has come off its two sliders of the quick lifter. I have removed the glass and cleaned out the metal slider attached to the glass. I Also checked that the spring is A ok in the lifter mechanism. My problem, ( I’m still New at the restoration process fun it maybe) is getting the glass ...

Movie. Darkest Hour

Just seen the Winston Churchill movie recently released with Gary Oldman in starring role.
Noted with great interest the P 2 Rover(s) shown frequently. Wonder who the
lucky proud owners were.

Re: P2 Semaphore trafficators

Many thanks Mike. Semaphores are not legal in NZ on their own, however provided your vehicle has what we call Right and left front and rear turn indicators or “Blinkers” they are permitted as an “xtra” for authentication purposes provided they were an original item on a period vehicle. I’ll give Mik...
