Re: TL 6200 a journey back in time!

I’m very pleased to report that TL6200 performed faultlessly over the weekend, shrugging off over 320 miles and returning in excess of 20mpg. The Lincolnshire roads are perfect for cars and drivers who want to tour about at 40-50mph and everyone we met was most interested in my Rover, even more so o...

Re: National Rally

I have to agree with Luli that a Dynamator is a great solution. When rebuilding my Tourer I didn’t even consider using the old dynamo and regulator set up. Not just because of the relative ease of installation and ongoing simplicity of maintenance, but also because an alternator provides far superio...

TL 6200 a journey back in time!

Those of you who read my article in the club magazine a couple of years ago may recall that my 12 Tourer was once owned by Rover main agent and Rally Driver, WP Maidens of Sleaford. This coming weekend I’m planning to attend the Mid-Lincs Rover Cub event at East Kirkby and, as we will be there for s...

Re: Pulling down front end

Terry, There is another club called the ‘P4 Drivers Guild’, which appears to specialise in cars like yours. You might want to give their web site a look. I don’t own one so I cannot speak first hand but there appears to be maintenance info etc. Your car and the history sound great. So good that you ...

Re: Pulling down front end

Terry, I’m pleased that you have voiced your observations regarding responses to forum queries. I’ve noticed the same thing and wonder just how long it must take some people to get tasks completed on their cars if they are waiting for support from other members. I’m not an owner of P4s but I always ...

Re: Early brakes

I had all the shoes on my 12 Tourer re lined by a firm called Saftek in Cleckheaton, who specialise in old car brakes and clutches. They provided a superb service and returned my newly re lined brakes almost by return post. This was back in 2015, but I doubt the cost will have gone up a lot. I paid ...

Re: And todays question is.......(drum roll)

Kev, Re seats, I had the same thought when I was doing mine. Maybe worth a wander round some charity shops or even Ikea to see if there is anything with the right sort of curve available. Mine had the added complication of needing to tip forward, which made this option more complex. You may find som...

Re: And todays question is.......(drum roll)

Kev, Just looked at the horn button on my Tourer. If it is hard to unscrew you could put tape round to protect it and try turning with water pump pliers. Tricky as you don’t want to crack or chip the Bakelite. Maybe a bit of heat from a hair dryer? Don’t know what else to suggest. Take care, good lu...

Re: And todays question is.......(drum roll)

Hi Kev, Green and black is a nice combination and will look great once you get it tidied up. Good luck with the seats and I hope my earlier posts on that are of some use! Re the dash, I’d go darker to avoid it looking orange, but it’s a matter of choice. I stained mine and coated with about half a d...

Re: VIN number 1935 Rover 12

Kev, Yes, six digit number starting with a 5 for 1935. The plate should say 1935 model above the number. Have you posted off the v5? Surely the chassis number is on that and known to DVLA? Also, if you have a copy of it or one of the old buff or green log books, you will have the chassis (or car) nu...
