Re: A.M. Instruments, Rover 20

This is a real rabbit hole to dive down! I have found Smiths MA (with a very stylised MA) fitted to many late 30's motorbikes; and Smiths Chronometric speedos with plain capital M A on them! They all will have unique numeric part nos on the face and and indication (4 digit) of the number of turns . ...

Re: A.M. Instruments, Rover 20

I know that Smiths made 8 day clocks for aircraft during the war. I remember seeing one apparently for a Spitfire advertised at something over £1000 and it was marked A M on the back with a Kings Crown. I imagined that A M stood for Air Ministry? It did not have the Ordnance Broad Arrow mark such as...

Re: Paint schemes

Thank you for taking & posting those pictures. I have to remove my carburettor to replace a leaky "heat spacer"(what IS it called?) that causes occasional discreet pops on the overrun! I will make up a suitable shield and will add to it some heat reflective/absorbent material left over from putting ...

Re: Paint schemes

Nothing to do with paint! Hi jacking the thread! I see you have a heat shield under the carburettor...I can only see one mounting bolt(?) does it rest om the manifold or what? My car has one under the SU fuel pump, but I am intending to make one up to go between Carb & Manifolds...preferably easy to...

Pre war 12hp "sports"

While having new Avon's fitted last week to KKM12 at Classic Performance Engineering in the Classic complex at Bicester, I was pleased to see a very smart pre-war Rover12 special - dark Blue with red chassis, two seater, rally equipped, alloy & fabric body & wearing an RSR badge - in the workshop......

what is this oil seal?

In among my spares I have a new oil seal (about 2.75 O/D 1.75 I/D) it is marked NTK1075. What might it fit? Hub seal?
The envelope it is in suggested it came from a classic Rover supplier.

Re: TWO EXCELSIOR 4.75/5.00 17 Tyres AS NEW for 10hp

I have just had a look at the Workshop manual & that tells me that the 4.75 x17 fit tens from 1938 to 1947....the twelves used 4.74 pre 1937, but they were on 18inch wheels!
