Re: Ignition timing
Clamps all good. The looseness appears to be in the drive...drive slot perhaps. As the distributor is new. I'll put up with it!

Re: Engine Mounting replacement 12 tourer
Thank you ! I can only make Malvern & the Dinner on Saturday I shall think about the mountings. ..I too had a look -the upper bit looks ok, but is not under real load. I expect they will be like the rear spring buffers...looks easy, but needs patience, cursing and more patience First thing will be t...

Engine Mounting replacement 12 tourer
Can this be done "in Situ"?
I am pretty sure my engine has dropped in the past 75 odd years, and the starting handle doesn't line up
How difficult is it?
Loosen / remove the bolts, Lift the engine on a jack (having drained the radiator to remove the hoses?)
Replace!
Simples! or not??

Re: Ignition timing
Thanks Luli...very impressive that 123 system. Did you measure performance "before and after"? or subjectively does it feel better. At the moment, having fitted a NOS distributor of the correct type I just want to know where to set it to suit E5 99 octane fuel! I will also check the clamp again to m...

Ignition timing
I don't want to monopolise the thread, but... I fitted a brand new correctly numbered DY4A (no vacuum advance) distributor last year (anyone need a Wolseley Eight distributor?. Only one numeral different to a Rover 12....? ) and set it up according to the book settings. Two questions 1. It fee...

Re: Compressions 12hp post war tourer.
Burns little or no oil. Pint to 500 miles perhaps - last year's Luxembourg trip used about a litre. No fuming rocker! I don't have a vacuum gauge. If I find the compressions on my ZA Magnette are healthy on this gauge I will check the tappet clearances....I see in the Handbook that these should be ....

Compressions 12hp post war tourer.
I checked my compressions again today. Engine hot, running well. Results again showed about 55psi on all 4 cylinders, well no 4 just a whisker more.. All seems a bit low to me...even my Austin Sevens got into three figures! I am not minded to take the head off... yet. The engine is smooth, pulls wel...
