1923 4hp motorcycle
Hi does anyone have any ignition timing info on a rover 1923 500cc motorcycle
Re: 1923 4hp motorcycle
I have a book on the 4hp engine, but its undated, so not sure if its relevant. It came from british-motorcycle-parts.com.
On timing its vague. Basically, there is a gauge rod lowered through where the compression lowering tap goes; set advance/retard to fully advanced; turn over until inlet valve is closed, and mark on gauge rod shows level with cylinder head boss; set magneto so points are about to open. Sounds like the gauge rod is needed. Another approach I have see is to set advance/retard to fully RETARDED at TDC.
