The mechanical fuel pump isnt used on my car a an electric one has been fitted .I want to remove it and fit a blanking plate in it place. However it is impossible to remove the rod,its as thought there is a raised end on the inner part and it just clonks against the engine casing when pulled ,I cant fit a blanking plate as it sticks out a few mm ,so is it OK to cut a few mm off the end, I cannot have it striking a blanking plate The old mechanical pump is quite tatty so I don`t want it left in.
Also since I was unable to find the answer to an earlier question, what is the vertical lever on the photo for ,its connected by cable to a knob on the dash ,the lettering on it is unreadable . Len

Re: Rover 12 fuel pump
After careful cleaning and a magnifier I can just see the word throttle on the knob of the cable that goes to the lever in question. What is the purpose of the extra control for the throttle, beside the accelerator
Re: Rover 12 fuel pump
Len you are posting in 2 separate topics, "Veteran / Vintage Rovers" and "Wilks cars, that's P1 and P2 1934-1947" this may be causing some confusion with finding answers? I suggest that you use Quick links (top left) then "active topics" to find your last posts and then post in the most relevant topic. Let me know if you would like the posts all together under 1 heading
Hope this helps

Hello Len, unfortunately it is proving risky and difficult to move your posts and the replies. I am still looking at a way of doing it.
