Rover 12 1934

Post by digcot65 » Sat Aug 22, 2020 11:18 am

Just started to build a "tent" in the garage,to spray the car .Ive spent over 80 hours so far getting the body right for spraying and am still finding dings and scratches when I go into the garage. You can take perfection too far . I have to accept an 86 year old car isn`t going to look concours unless I spend a ridiculous amount of time and money on it.The car then becomes a show piece instead of a pleasure to drive .The original colour was black over blue and it is now maroon over blue. The interior is dark blue upholstery ,but I still like the maroon lower part.I am still not sure what to do over colour.Len

Hi.
The age old dilemma of how perfect you want it. I am lucky that both my Rover and my vintage bike were inherited from my Dad in a very tidy but used condition. If I get caught out in the rain it isn't a disaster. It isn't going to take me 2 days to clean them to within an inch of their lives. It is nice to be able to relax and enjoy using them rather than having to keep them locked away.
I do lean towards black over blue as that is the colour of mine so I'm biased, :-) Time to sit in the garage with a cup of tea and ponder.
Enjoy,
Stuart.

Morning,do you have a photo of your car.I had a friend some years ago who owned an Austin A70 when the car was young,if he went out in it and it had rained,he removed all the door cars and dried the inside of the door off.If that ins`t going too far ,I don`t know what is The car looked good from a distance when I bought it,but there were a lot of faults with the paint work .Len

Thanks it looks great,my wife wants me to keep it black and a better shade of maroon, but with the interior being blue I`m torn between my wife and blue. If I go for blue after asking her what colour she likes she say why ask,you never listen Oh joy Len
