1934 Rover 12 Battery

Post by digcot65 » Mon Mar 08, 2021 8:09 pm

Hello I seem to be a bit confused,my Rover 12 is shown in the V5 to have been made in March 1934 but the battery in it is connected POSITIVE EARTH I didn`t think they were until 1936 .But the dip switch connects one of the headlight leads to earth when switched Len

Bulbs and solenoids are polarity indifferent.

Sorry I realise about the bulbs,I forgot to add,the headlight wiring has been changed considerable with both headlights beibg wired with double filament bulbs .So the dip swith is unusable ,now the way the wiring is .I was just surprise about the mention of different polarities for different year and mine doesnt seem to tie up Len

A good idea may be using the dip switch to energize relays. That would reduce the load off the switch and increase the headlight brightness. See here https://wp.me/pXLKy-1xp

Hello I have wired a relay and an inline fuse into the new circuit.I have also fitted a warning light as demanded by law.I ran into a problem when wiring the lamp up ,every time I switched it on the inline fuse blew.I checked everything couldn`t find the reason tried again and another fuse blew. I thought I would try the switch even though it was brand new.The connection between the common tab and the earth tab was short circiut. This has now been replaced You`re fighting a losing battle, when new parts are faulty .The electrics are all finished ,with everything working. Now to make sure the working is all tidy .As I said earlier, I was an electronics and computer engineer some time ago.So car electrics don`t frighten me as some people are The car certainly look different with all new chrome and redone reflectors .Cost a fortune ,but where do you stop when restoring a car The indicator lights were there, when I bought the car and fortunately ,the semaphore ones still work ,though just for show Len
