Re: 1934 Rover 12 Voltage regulator
Since the dynamo is giving an O/P and the ign.light stays on,it point to the regulator .Could a more modern regulator be fitted in its place .Im thinking any way of fitting a Dynamator Len

Hi All,
Opens the debate about originality verses reliability. On my 10/25 and my vintage bike I have replaced the old regulator with a modern electronic one. It can be fitted inside the old regulator box so all looks original from outside and gives much better regulation and is much more reliable.
Link to one the many sources and also has some useful info.

Re: 1934 Rover 12 Voltage regulator
Morning ,they now offer a DVR4 ,which has an O/P of 15 aps, more suitable for cars .The original DVR2 was really only for bikes. They are £80 which you have to think is it worth spending £150 for a Dynamator, you then have a new generator and a new regulator Something to think about Len
Re: 1934 Rover 12 Voltage regulator
After tidying up all the wiring and reconnecting bad joints, the dynamo is now showing a charge on the ammeter and the ign.light goes out.So changing to a Dynamator is a job that can be put on hold at the moment, since the restoration is still to be completed

Good result! often works...take it apart- clean it up- put it back! Much cheaper too!
