Does anyone know whether this model should have cranked or straight lever arms on the front shock absorbers? I was under the impression they should be cranked and one of mine is. However, someone who has far more knowledge than I assures me that they should be straight.

Re: 1947 Rover 12 shocks
Which type of shockers are they? My 1947 Instruction Book for all models shows both Luvax-Girling units for 10 and 12 models and Armstrong units as being fitted to 14 and 16 models. Both types are shown with straight links in the component illustrations but there appears to be a curved upper link shown in the cut away of the rear Luvax Girling shocker and maybe a straight one in the Armstrong unit rear cut away.
On my '39 14 there are Luvax Girling shockers with curved links on the rear and straight on the front and I am pretty sure they have never been tinkered with before.
FYI pictures of Armstrong units believed to be 1947 can be seen in my for sale advert still on the RSR website - but I canot tell which vehicle they came from
Sorry if this muddies the water

Re: 1947 Rover 12 shocks
Thank you for your responses. My car has what looks like an original shock on the drivers side but it has a cranked arm. The other side looks like a later Armstrong with a straight arm. The cranked arm one seems to give a better angle to the connecting rod but I guess both work. I have a pair of old original shocks that have straight arms. I will get these refurbished and fit them.
