I wondered if anyone had bought and used one of these starter motors? I ask because I have nine cars using the same starter and while I have a few spare motors, I wonder about the day when I just want to change a starter motor that has failed for one that will work and do so in 10 minutes to then go somewhere and not wonder whether it will die again. I was not impressed by the strength of the two metal prongs on the reproduction cush drives that are on offer and there must come a time when I will run out of originals.
Because Series 1 Land Rover starters are sold as (apparently) an interchangeable unit with the P1-P3 model, I see that AES sell a WOSP (Denso) motor as detailed above. I only have one experience of these motors. I'd bought an Austin Heavy 12 tourer from "the" person to have one from. It arrived, started on the trailer, drove through the gates and died. I pressed the starter button and (truthfully) the starter fell into about twenty pieces (yes, cars know to come here and fail because a kindly person will sort them). I knew that AES sold a motor for the Heavy 12, it arrived, was fitted in 10 minutes and never gave any trouble as long as I had the car.
Anyway, back to Rovers. It looks as if the WOSP motor fits in place of the 9084 housing. Anyone tried them ? Links below :

Thank you.
