It seems to be a low pressure sucking pump. If so, it is mounted at the wrong place. It should be mounted in the engine bay. More or less at carburetor height. And 30 c"m above the exhaust is a hot place.

OK, that's your opinion. I see it a little differently.

Let's wait and see how the pump behaves over time.
