1935 Rover 14 sports register
1935 Rover 14 sports register
Hi
Can some one please tell which available body colours were used for the 1935 Rover 14 sports saloon?
Did yellow and black exist for the 35 model?

Here is a page from the sales brouchure (1947) maybe it was more of the same as the pre-war.

As a member who has only joined recently, its really good to see information like this relating to our Rovers.
It broadens the knowledge and helps to understand our old cars.
May there be much more of this kind of information sharing.
Thanks regards Dave

Re: 1935 Rover 14 sports register
Hi
1934 paint finish 12 according to my copy of the Workshop manual is Broom Yellow along with everything else as black including Carpets and upholstery. My own 1935 12 built around Feb has a 1934 paint finish 7 as the wheels are maroon, and that is changed in 1935 for black. So there was probably an ovelap of paint depending on manufacture at the start of the year. Depending when built your 14 could have an outgoing scheme .....or as said maybe they paid for it. A P1 in yellow and black would be striking. The RSR Manual does not show bonnet top as shown by p47,s paint page only lower and upper body. I also have seen a P1 with colour detailing around the windows which is very nice.

Re: 1935 Rover 14 sports register
Hi further to this query, I had a phone call from a chap (did not get the name) who has a Broom Yellow 1934 Rover 12? If you go to Wikipedia and query rover 12 it shows the car. Seems that the colour is virtually the same as the E Type Jag Primrose Yellow of the 60's. This car originally was all Yellow apart from the Black roof and competed in a Rally (again forgot the one around 1934-5) it then had the wheel mudguards painted black. It has the black interior, he tried to register on the forum but has had problems, hopefully he will explain fully and maybe add some nice pictures of his car.

The car I spoke of and the owners story appears (I assume it is one and the same?) in this months FreewheelNo. 346, page 2 and then in an article on page 12-14 the car is on page 14. I would suggest a call to him would be a great place to start
