Air cleaner housing/radiator/bulkhead colours.

Post by apkok » Sat Oct 20, 2012 5:04 pm

I seem to be hogging the P1/P2 pages, my apologies.

I've started tidying up under Petunia's bonnet and would like to repaint various components. My air filter housing at present is painted red. Is this the correct colour?

Also, the top tank of the radiator. Should this be gloss, satin or matt black? I'm assuming black is the correct colour.

Bulkhead: body colour or black (matt, satin or gloss)?

Thanks, Alan

Hi Alan, as far as I am aware the air filter housing is gloss black and radiator is a cross between matt black and satin black

Although an earlier model, this information may be of help, its from ' Denzel ' my totally original 1935 10hp barn find. The air filter housing is black, similar to the radiator top, more satin than shiny. The bulhead is body colour, the waterpump fan is pillar box red.

I did a lot of research on the engine colour ( there is still some original paint on the engine ) and the nearest is ' Buick Green ' engine enamel available from ' frosts '.

Thanks for the information. I've repainted the air cleaner and the radiator and the other items have been added to my rather lengthy 'to do' list.

Best wishes, Alan
