Drop Head Coupes

Post by andrewmcg » Fri Feb 15, 2013 3:44 pm

Seems DHC's are flavour of the month as I see on Richard Edmonds website they have one for sale in their auction on 2nd March.

This is a 1934 Tickford Speed 14 Coupe with triple carbs, looks in VGC following a major restoration some 10 years ago and the price guide of £22/25,000 is probably realistic.

According to the archive database this is the only one known to the RSR??? and was in the club with two members during the 1960's. It was owned by a member in Surrey in the early 60's who restored it to what looks like a reasonable condition by 1966 when he offered it for sale in FW no 80 of Dec 1966, and by coincidence the car, in its newly sprayed Black and White colour scheme features on the front cover of FW no 80,time for long standing members to dig up their copy??? and was bought by a member in Clifton.

It then appears for sale in FW no 91 of Oct 1968 with a non member in the Bristol area with offers invited starting at £200.

No further news on the car until its current appearance at Edmonds forthcoming auction, according to the auction blurb it seems the the car has resided in Ireland since 1969 with a non member??

If anyone is aware of another of these models I would be pleased to hear.

According to Edmonds website this DHC did not sell at their auction last week. It does not say what bidding reached but assume it did not reach the owners reserve?? Anybody know??
