Starting handle and jack

Post by apkok » Sun Mar 03, 2013 9:52 am

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me where the starting handle should be stowed on Petunia, my 1947 16 6 light please? Also, I may have the wrong jack; according to the pictures I've seen it should fit in clips under the boot lid floor, but my jack is too long to go there. My jack has a round base and rotating handle.

Any info gratefully received, Alan

At the top of the boot, you should feel a shelf covered in baize. There is a flap of rexine with 3 elastics ending in a ring. Your starting handle neatly sits on the shelf that is shaped to take the cranked handle at the right. The elastics can be clipped over 3 screw heads to secure the rexine close to the handle and stop it falling out.

The jack you describe should stand in the left hand corner of the boot where there is a spring clip to secure it. The wheelbrace normally travels under the flap in the boot lid, secured by spring clips.

Thanks Mike. I will have a look in daylight. I expect some of the fixings are missing but at least I know what should be there, Alan
